My client is currently looking for an Occupational Health Technician to join their growing peripatetic team. In this role, you will be responsible for traveling across the UK, operating a Mobile Medical Unit (MMU) to deliver essential health surveillance services at client sites. You will need to have the ability to park the unit near your home overnight and be comfortable with frequent travel, including regular overnight stays. The role typically requires you to be away from home for about 3 out of 4 weeks each month, but you will always be brought home for the weekend.

This is a full-time role, with 37.5 hours per week, typically working between 8:30 am and 5:00 pm. Travel throughout the UK is expected, and we are looking for candidates based in the Poole/Bournemouth/Dorchester area.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct health surveillance screenings, including audiometry, lung function testing, drug and alcohol testing, and baseline measurements (height, weight, blood pressure, urinalysis).
  • Ensure accurate recording of all medical information in occupational health records, which will be passed to relevant clinical staff.
  • Ensure all equipment is well-maintained, clean, and fit for purpose.
  • Assist with additional tasks as required, such as health promotion activities.
  • Provide support to the Occupational Health team to ensure the department runs smoothly and effectively, including non-clinical tasks like filing and tidying.
  • Support the wider occupational health team in their duties and ensure accurate gathering and recording of information.
  • While you will not be interpreting clinical results, you will provide valuable biometric data to assist in clinical decisions, including interpreting drug and alcohol test results if trained to do so.

Skills & Experience:

  • Strong time management skills and ability to prioritize your own workload.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Experience with health surveillance and health promotion activities.
  • Familiarity with GDPR and confidentiality requirements.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with a self-motivated and flexible approach to work.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and an approachable demeanor.
  • Full UK manual driving license.

Education & Qualifications:

Experience in a health-related field (e.g., Healthcare Assistant, EMT, Military Medic, or similar background). Knowledge or experience in health surveillance is preferred but not mandatory.

Benefits:

  • Competitive annual salary based on experience.
  • Contributory pension scheme (up to 6%).
  • Life assurance.
  • 25 days annual leave plus bank holidays, increasing with length of service.
  • Discounted gym membership.
  • Cycle to work scheme.
  • Access to Vitality Health.

This is a fantastic opportunity for a proactive and reliable individual to grow within a supportive environment while gaining valuable experience. If you're excited about the prospect of traveling and supporting a dynamic team, apply today.
