About the Service

We are recruiting on behalf of a larger, 10‑bed residential children’s home that operates alongside an on‑site education provision. The service supports children and young people with a range of complex needs, providing both care and education within a structured, stable environment. This is a more comprehensive setting than a typical residential home, with a strong emphasis on routine, engagement in education, and consistent therapeutic support to help young people stabilise and progress. The focus is on creating a safe, supportive environment where young people can rebuild trust, re‑engage with learning, and develop both socially and emotionally.

The Role

We are looking for an experienced Deputy Manager to support the Registered Manager in leading a larger, more complex service. You will play a key role in overseeing daily operations, supporting a wider staff team, and ensuring consistency across both care and education elements of the provision. This is a hands‑on leadership role requiring strong organisation, resilience, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast‑paced environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the Registered Manager in the overall leadership and management of the home
  • Oversee day‑to‑day operations across a 10‑bed residential setting
  • Lead shifts and ensure consistency in care and practice across the team
  • Support the integration of care and education within the service
  • Ensure compliance with Ofsted regulations and Children’s Homes standards
  • Maintain strong safeguarding practices and a safe environment for young people
  • Supervise, mentor, and develop a larger residential staff team
  • Assist with rota management, staffing, and resource planning
  • Build positive relationships with young people, education staff, and external professionals
  • Contribute to service development and continuous improvement

About You

  • Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare (minimum)
  • Significant experience within children’s residential care
  • Experience in a senior or supervisory role within a larger home (desirable)
  • Strong understanding of safeguarding and regulatory requirements
  • Experience supporting young people with complex needs (EBD/SEMH desirable)
  • Confident managing teams and maintaining standards in a busy environment
  • Strong organisational and leadership skills
  • Resilient, adaptable, and able to manage competing demands
  • Committed to improving outcomes for children and young people

Benefits

  • Salary £38,000
  • Private healthcare plan
  • Contributory pension scheme
  • Ongoing training and development
  • Supportive senior leadership team
  • Clear progression opportunities within a growing organisation

The Opportunity

This is a strong opportunity to step into a Deputy role within a larger, education‑linked residential service, offering more scope, responsibility, and progression than a smaller home. You’ll be supporting the leadership of a complex setting where structure, teamwork, and consistency are critical—giving you the chance to develop your management skills while making a real impact on young people’s daily lives.
