About the Service

We are recruiting on behalf of a small, well-structured residential children’s home based in a detached property in Hadley, Telford. The home provides care and accommodation for up to three young people, supported by a dedicated staff team in a highly structured and consistent environment. This is a close-knit service where individualised care, strong routines, and consistent adult relationships are central to helping young people feel safe, supported, and able to progress.

The Role

We are looking for an experienced Deputy Manager to support the Registered Manager in the day-to-day running of the home. You will play a key leadership role within a small team, ensuring high standards of care, safeguarding, and compliance are consistently maintained. This is a hands-on position where you will be expected to lead shifts, support staff development, and remain closely involved in the delivery of care to young people.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the Registered Manager with the overall running of the home
  • Lead shifts and provide clear guidance and leadership to staff
  • Ensure the home operates in line with Ofsted regulations and Children’s Homes standards
  • Support the implementation and review of individual care plans
  • Maintain strong safeguarding practices at all times
  • Supervise, mentor, and support residential care staff
  • Assist with rota planning, staffing, and daily operational requirements
  • Build and maintain positive, consistent relationships with young people
  • Contribute to service development and continuous improvement

About You

  • Minimum Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare (or equivalent)
  • Proven experience in a children’s residential setting in a senior or deputy role
  • Strong understanding of safeguarding and child protection procedures
  • Confident in leading shifts and supporting a small team
  • Calm, consistent, and able to work effectively in a high-responsibility environment
  • Strong communication and organisational skills
  • Committed to providing high-quality, child-centred care
