About the role
We're looking for a Financial Accountant to join our finance team and play a key role in delivering accurate, timely and compliant financial reporting. Reporting to the Financial Accounting Manager, you'll take ownership of core financial accounting activities including balance sheet management, month‑end close, statutory reporting support and audit preparation. This is a great opportunity for a part‑qualified or newly qualified accountant who enjoys hands‑on financial accounting and wants to further develop their technical expertise in a collaborative, improvement‑focused environment.
What you’ll be doing
- Financial accounting & reporting
- Manage the fixed asset register, including capitalisation, depreciation and disposals
- Prepare and post month‑end journals (accruals, prepayments, leases and adjustments)
- Produce weekly cash flow reporting
- Maintain and reconcile balance sheet accounts, investigating and resolving variances
- Reconcile intercompany balances and prepare intercompany matrices
- Support monthly, quarterly and annual financial reporting in line with accounting standards
- Prepare VAT and Corporation Tax workings
- Assist with statutory accounts preparation and year‑end close
- Support internal and external audits by preparing documentation and responding to queries
- Ensure compliance with internal controls, accounting policies and regulatory requirements
- Act as a first point of contact for finance‑related queries from non‑finance teams
- Provide clear financial analysis and explanations to support decision‑making
- Work closely with colleagues across finance and the wider business
- Use finance systems and Excel to maintain accurate financial records
- Identify and implement opportunities to improve efficiency, accuracy and consistency
- Support finance transformation or system‑improvement initiatives
- Contribute to ad‑hoc projects as required
What we’re looking for
- Essential
- Part‑qualified or qualified accountant (ACA / ACCA / CIMA)
- Strong understanding of core financial accounting principles
- Experience in a finance or accounting role (practice or industry)
- High attention to detail with strong analytical skills
- Confident communicator with good stakeholder‑management skills
- Strong Excel skills and experience using finance systems
- Proactive mindset with a focus on continuous improvement
- Audit background
- SOX and/or US GAAP exposure
