About Notabene
Notabene is building infrastructure that's transforming how money moves in the digital economy. We're evolving beyond our compliance foundations to enable the next generation of digital financial services between regulated institutions with unprecedented efficiency. With nearly 50 employees across 14 countries and having recently closed our Series B round last November with support from leading investors, we're looking for people like you to help shape the future rails of the crypto industry.
The impact you will have
Notabene is at a pivotal growth stage. Our People function is the connective tissue that keeps a globally distributed team running smoothly. In this role, we need someone who can bring both operational rigor and genuine care for the employee experience. As our People Operations Manager, you will own the systems, processes, and programs that make Notabene a great place to work regardless of where in the world someone is based. You'll report directly to our Director of People Operations and work closely with her on initiatives across our 3 Pillars:
- Hiring support initiatives like career frameworks, manager enablement (including building out a manager toolkit), and improving how we deliver and receive upward, downward, and peer feedback.
- Own onboarding and offboarding end-to-end, coordinating cross-functionally to ensure every new hire is set up for success and every departure is handled completely and compliantly across all geographies.
- Manage our people systems and payroll platforms, serving as the primary admin for Justworks (US payroll and benefits), Remote (primary EOR), and Deel (legacy EOR), ensuring data accuracy, timely processing, and proactive coordination on country-specific employment requirements.
- Be the first point of contact for employee queries, responding to questions on benefits, payroll, policies, and employment with accuracy and care; build and maintain a living FAQ and policy library in Notion so answers scale beyond you.
- Be the data steward for people operations, maintaining accurate Google Sheets-based people data in the near term while building toward a consolidated HRIS; conduct a structured evaluation of global HRIS tools (e.g., ChartHop) and develop a recommendation for implementation.
- Leverage AI to work smarter, using tools like Claude to draft policies, summarise data, and accelerate operational work without sacrificing accuracy or critical thinking.
What you bring
- 3-6 years of People Operations experience at a startup or scale-up, where you've had broad, hands-on ownership of the People function.
- Operational precision and follow-through, managing multiple concurrent priorities without dropping the ball.
- Experience supporting a globally distributed team, understanding the nuance of managing people across multiple countries and time zones.
- Strong analytical and systems thinking, comfortable managing data in Google Sheets, identifying breakdowns in processes, and building cleaner systems.
- An empathetic mindset with excellent communication skills, treating every employee interaction as an opportunity to build trust.
- Nice to have: Admin-level experience with Remote, Justworks, or Deel; familiarity with performance management platforms; experience with ATS.
Benefits
- Flexible Remote Work: Work from anywhere!
- $1000 WFH Stipend: Use within your first year of employment.
- MacBook Pro: Procured by you and your manager to find a model that meets your needs.
- Unlimited PTO: We trust you to take as much holiday as you need.
- Country-Specific Benefits: Statutory offerings and contributions, managed via our employer-of-record.
