  • Ensure smooth, compliant financial operations, including statutory reporting, audit management (FRS 102 and SORP), and continuous improvement of systems and processes.
  • Strengthen financial controls, risk management, due diligence and assurance across programmes.
  • Support the development of cloud based financial systems and improved data quality in Ghana.
  • Oversee multi currency management (£/$/GHS), including FX risk, forecasting and cashflow planning.
  • Produce timely, accurate and insightful management accounts and financial reports for senior leadership and the Board.
  • Provide financial modelling, full cost recovery guidance, and budgeting support for fundraising and donor reporting.
  • Build strong relationships across teams, offering training, mentoring and accessible financial insight.

About you:

We’re looking for someone who brings both technical excellence and a collaborative, can do approach. You will have:

  • A recognised professional accounting qualification (e.g. ACCA, CIMA).
  • At least five years’ senior financial management experience, within the charity or international development sector.
  • Strong knowledge of UK charity finance, audits, compliance and multi currency operations.
  • Experience improving financial processes, systems and management reporting.
  • Confidence managing FX risk and international financial flows.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to make complex information clear and relevant.
  • A pragmatic, flexible mindset and a commitment to strengthening locally led systems.
  • Willingness to travel monthly to London and occasionally to Ghana.

Above all, you’ll share our values: integrity, unity and impact, and our belief in the power of communities to lead change.

What we offer:

Working at AfriKids means joining a small, friendly and passionate team where you can truly make a difference. Our benefits include:

  • Remote working as standard, with flexible hours and the option of a 9 day fortnight after probation.
  • Minimum 34 days’ leave (plus additional service based days).
  • Generous parental, caregiver and compassionate leave.
  • Pension match up to 5%.
  • Annual wellbeing and learning allowances.
  • Paid sick leave, eyecare vouchers and cycle to work scheme.
  • Regular team socials, away days and the chance to visit Ghana to see our work first hand.
