Nostos Services UK Limited is an independent Managing General Agent (MGA) operating in the Lloyd’s and London specialty insurance market.

Founded in January 2026, the business is in active build‑out phase with an ambitious target of £250 million in Gross Written Premium within five years.

This is an exceptional opportunity for a recently qualified accountant to join at the very beginning of Nostos’s journey and help shape the finance function from the ground up.

The Assistant Finance Manager will sit at the heart of the business, working across every aspect of the finance operation and reporting directly to the Finance Director.

The breadth of this role - spanning financial reporting, operations, treasury, accounts payable, credit control, FP&A, and business partnering - means it offers a genuinely rare level of exposure and accelerated career development.

In addition, as a new entity operating in a technically complex segment of the insurance market, the successful candidate will gain deep knowledge of specialty insurance classes of business, Lloyd’s market structures, delegated authority arrangements, and multi-currency accounting.

Key Responsibilities

  • Financial Reporting & Operations
  • Prepare the monthly management accounts, including P&L, balance sheet, and cash flow statements under FRS 102 / IFRS, for review and sign-off by the Finance Director.
  • Maintain the general ledger and chart of accounts within the company’s ERP system, ensuring data integrity and appropriate coding across all transactions.
  • Support the preparation of statutory financial statements and liaise with external auditors at year-end.
  • Support compliance with HMRC obligations including VAT (including partial exemption calculations), PAYE, and corporation tax, working with the Finance Director and external advisers.
  • Support the monthly payroll cycle in coordination with the payroll bureau, including benefits-in-kind reporting and payrolling of benefits, with sign‑off by the Finance Director.
  • Accounts Payable & Expense Management
  • Run the day‑to‑day accounts payable cycle, including purchase invoice processing, supplier statement reconciliation, and preparation of payment runs for approval.
  • Administer employee expense claims and corporate card reconciliations, ensuring policy compliance and accurate coding.
  • Maintain supplier records and payment terms, and operate payment authorisation controls as set by the Finance Director.
  • Treasury & Cash Management
  • Monitor daily cash positions across the company’s bank accounts, including multi‑currency accounts, and prepare short‑term cash flow forecasts.
  • Process and reconcile BACS and international payments in coordination with the Finance Director.
  • Assist the Finance Director with the implementation of the company’s treasury and payment infrastructure, including evaluation and onboarding of specialist insurance payment and reconciliation platforms.
  • Identify FX revaluation requirements and flag exposures to the Finance Director, supporting any hedging activity directed by the business.
  • Credit Control
  • Produce aged debtor reporting and support the collection of premium income, commissions, and other receivables.
  • Liaise with coverholders, brokers, and other counterparties on outstanding balances and produce regular status reports for the Finance Director.
  • Operate credit control procedures as set by the Finance Director, flagging exceptions and suggesting process improvements over time.
  • FP&A & Business Planning
  • Assist in the preparation of the annual budget and periodic reforecast processes, working closely with the Finance Director and senior leadership.
  • Produce regular variance analysis, KPI dashboards, and management reporting packs that provide actionable insight into business performance.
  • Support modelling of underwriting profitability, expense ratios, combined ratios, and other insurance‑specific financial metrics.
  • Contribute to ad hoc financial analysis and business case support as the business grows and evolves.
  • Business Partnering
  • Act as a key finance contact for internal stakeholders including underwriting, operations, and senior management, translating financial data into clear, commercial insights.
  • Support underwriting teams in understanding financial performance against plan, bordereaux data, and delegated authority reporting requirements.
  • Develop strong working relationships across the business to embed a culture of financial accountability and commercial discipline.
  • Finance Systems & Infrastructure
  • Support the Finance Director in implementing and optimising Nostos’s finance technology stack, with day‑to‑day responsibility for accurate use of the General Ledger and any specialist insurance sub‑ledger or reconciliation tools.
  • Help to document and embed finance processes, controls, and procedures as the business scales.
  • Contribute to the evaluation and selection of additional finance tools and integrations, with a focus on automation, data quality, and scalability.

Person Specification

  • Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent) with approximately two years post‑qualification experience.
  • Some exposure to financial services through training contract or industry role, with a strong appetite to learn the London / Lloyd’s specialty insurance market.
  • Solid working knowledge of financial accounting, management reporting, and month‑end processes.
