Let’s fix hospitality, for good. Hospitality is tough – margins are thin, waste is high, and teams are stretched. That’s why we built Nory. Our CEO, Conor, founded Mad Egg in Ireland and built Nory to help restaurants run with consistency, certainty, and profit. We’re fresh off a Series B led by Kinnevik and have grown to 80+ people across Ireland, the UK, Spain and New York. We’re just getting started and are looking for an Engineering Team Lead to join our Inventory team. Inventory underpins COGS, gross profit, financial reporting, and our ability to automate ordering and reconciliation at scale. This team makes Nory’s inventory data reliable day-to-day and ready to support our 2026 AI vision.
This is a hands-on leadership role balancing technical ownership, delivery, and people leadership to ship a reliable, high-impact product. You should be comfortable working across backend and frontend systems. We’re stack-agnostic in our hiring and care most about strong engineering fundamentals and the ability to ramp quickly. Today, our stack includes Python, FastAPI, React, TypeScript, Node.js, AWS (Fargate, Aurora, SQS), Postgres, MongoDB and Docker.
What you’ll be doing:
- As Engineering Team Lead for the Inventory Squad, you’ll build and evolve the systems of record that power Nory’s inventory, COGS, and financial accuracy – turning real-world data into trusted foundations for automation and AI.
- Own the technical direction and delivery of Inventory at Nory, ensuring data integrity across orders, invoices, stock counts, recipes, waste, and suppliers.
- Raise the reliability bar by leading initiatives like audit trails, immutable data patterns, and locked stock periods – enabling traceability, accountability, and enterprise confidence.
- Improve the accuracy of COGS and stock valuation, tackling reconciliation problems such as opening/closing stock, VAT handling, and supplier pricing logic.
- Reduce manual effort through automation, including smart matching, confidence-based routing, and AI-assisted workflows that cut noise and errors.
- Lay the foundations for explainable AI, building systems where automated actions can be traced and trusted by customers and auditors.
- Partner with Product, Data, Design, and Customer teams to balance correctness, usability, and delivery speed in a highly operational domain.
- Lead and coach a squad of engineers, setting direction, reviewing code, unblocking delivery, and fostering ownership and continuous improvement.
- Act as a multiplier for delivery, focusing on outcomes that reduce churn, improve margins, and unlock scale for Nory’s next phase.
What you’ll bring:
- Hands-on technical leadership: Significant experience building and operating production systems, with deep strength in backend or frontend and the ability to work across the stack.
- Product-focused delivery experience: Experience in cross-functional squads delivering high-impact work with clear customer or commercial outcomes.
- Systems thinking: Designed and evolved systems with pragmatic trade-offs between speed, quality, and maintainability.
- Strong product instincts: Connect engineering work to customer and business outcomes and shape scope with Product.
- Delivery ownership: Take responsibility for team focus, pace, and outcomes, removing blockers.
- People leadership: Coach engineers, give clear feedback, and help individuals grow while building a healthy team culture.
- Clear communication: Explain complex technical ideas simply and work with non-engineering stakeholders.
Nice to have:
- Experience building financial or inventory systems of record.
- Exposure to AI-assisted workflows, automation, or ML-driven decision systems.
- Experience supporting enterprise customers with audit or compliance needs.
If you’re excited by the problems we’re solving but don’t tick every box, we’d still love to hear from you.
What you’ll get in return:
- Remote-first working environment – You must have the right to work in the UK or EU to be considered for this role.
- Competitive salary depending on experience.
- Meaningful equity, at Nory everyone is an owner!
- 35 days of paid leave per year.
