Let’s fix hospitality, for good. Hospitality is tough – margins are thin, waste is high, and teams are stretched. That’s why we built Nory, an all‑knowing restaurant management system that blends real‑time data with AI predictive analytics to help operators control their margins. We are now hiring a Senior AI Product Engineer – a senior software engineer who can architect, build, operate, and own production‑grade backend systems that use agentic workflows and LLMs. This is not a research role and not a chatbot feature role. You’ll build reliable, scalable backend services that run in production and deliver real‑time intelligence to thousands of operators.
Why this role matters
- Take unfinished agent prototypes and turn them into production systems
- Remove AI engineering bottlenecks across the Insights team
- Lay the foundations for a scalable “brigade” of AI agents across Nory
What You’ll Be Doing
As a Senior AI Product Engineer, you will design, build, and own production backend systems that use LLMs as part of larger, long‑lived services. Here’s what you will be responsible for:
- Design, build, and run multi‑step agentic workflows in production – orchestrating tools, APIs, state, and business logic to create reliable, autonomous systems
- Own agent systems end‑to‑end, including failure handling, retries, monitoring, evaluation, and on‑call responsibility
- Integrate LLM‑powered capabilities into core Nory workflows, collaborating with product, design, and data teams to deliver measurable impact on user behaviour and outcomes
- Use LLMs as part of backend systems, applying prompt engineering, retrieval (RAG), evaluation frameworks, and fine‑tuning where appropriate, with a focus on reliability, cost, and latency rather than model novelty
- Solve real operational problems for restaurants – improving forecasting, automating insights, and reducing friction in day‑to‑day operations
- Monitor, test, and continuously improve live systems using behavioural data, production metrics, and real‑world feedback
- Establish and evolve best practices for agent design and backend reliability, helping shape how Nory builds and scales AI systems across the business
What You’ll Bring
- Strong backend engineering fundamentals. You write clean, maintainable code, design robust APIs and services, and understand systems architecture, scalability, and SLAs. We use Python, but language is secondary to engineering depth.
- Hands‑on experience building and operating production agentic systems. You have personally owned multi‑step workflows that orchestrate tools and APIs, handle failures, and run reliably in the real world.
- Experience running long‑lived production services. You are comfortable with monitoring, debugging, incident response, and iterative improvement of live systems.
- Applied AI/ML experience in products. You’ve worked with embeddings, retrieval, and evaluation strategies in real user‑facing systems.
- Product‑first, outcome‑driven mindset. You prioritise user value, adoption, and business impact over technical elegance.
- High autonomy in ambiguous environments. You are a pragmatic 0→1 builder who can make trade‑offs, move quickly, and own problems end‑to‑end.
- Strong commercial awareness. You understand how AI‑driven systems deliver ROI through efficiency, behaviour change, and better decision‑making – and you build with that in mind.
Nice‑to‑have
- Experience with cloud infrastructure, data pipelines, or backend platforms supporting high‑traffic systems
What You’ll Get In Return
- Competitive salary range dependent on experience
- Meaningful equity – at Nory, everyone is an owner
- 35 days of paid leave per year (including bank holidays)
- Comprehensive private health insurance via Irish Life (Ireland) and AXA (UK)
- Enhanced parental leave and baby loss support
- €1,000 annual L&D budget + quarterly book budget
- €250 home office workspace budget
- Regular team offsites and socials
- Offices in London, Dublin, or Spain
