About Norwood: Founded in 1795, Norwood is the oldest Jewish charity in the UK, and has been privileged to receive Royal Patronage since 1815. We support and empower neurodiverse children and their families and people with neurodevelopmental disabilities to live their best lives. Norwood works with local authorities, to deliver wide-ranging services including residential and supported living accommodation and short-breaks facilities, as well as a range of support groups aimed at the whole family, not just the individual.

The purpose of this role is to create positive relationships with everyone involved in providing support to the individuals within our residential homes and ensure a high quality of service and people-centred care is provided.

About Orchard: Orchard is a large two-storey house. The house has six bedrooms over two floors with an additional two flats within the building, providing accommodation for 10 residents. Their ages range from twenties to seventies. They have moderate to complex learning disabilities, autism and some require additional support including epilepsy and mental health needs. The people we support enjoy being physically active, including walking, swimming and riding bikes. The support we provide at Orchard is 24 hours a day to ensure that the safety and needs of the people we support are met. The wishes, plans and activities of the people we support are central to how the rota is planned. We are expected to make reasonable adjustments to support people to live the life they choose with social and leisure opportunities.

Key responsibilities of the Deputy Care Manager include:

  • Maintain a high-quality service by working in partnership with colleagues and stakeholders to manage and support all services
  • To create and develop positive relationships with families and other professionals
  • Assist the Registered Manager with reviewing budgets, staff rotas, complaints and relationship building with external regulatory bodies
  • Provide support, supervision, development and mentoring to all staff including appraisal and supervision
  • To contribute to the development of new policies and practices within the Home and to maintain systems work within and maintain the quality management system for the organisation and to adhere to the CQC standards and regulations
  • Cover the manager during absences

Experience and Skills required for the Deputy Care Manager:

  • Willingness to undertake the Skills for Care Induction
  • Qualified QCF Level 3 or NVQ Level 3/4
  • Previous experience working in a residential/supported living setting including supervisory responsibilities, supporting Adults with Learning Disabilities
  • Person-centred planning, care and support planning and risk assessment
