About Norwood:

Founded in 1795, Norwood is the oldest Jewish charity in the UK, and has been privileged to receive Royal Patronage since 1815. We support and empower neurodiverse children and their families and people with neurodevelopmental disabilities to live their best lives.

Norwood works with local authorities, to deliver wide-ranging services including residential and supported living accommodation and short-breaks facilities, as well as a range of support groups aimed at the whole family, not just the individual.

About the home:

The Green is a single level ground floor home. It consists of 13 self-contained flats surrounding a luscious green outdoor area. Inside is a central hub which includes a kitchen, lounge, dining area, laundry facilities and 2 television areas. This Building also houses the offices for the manager and staff.

The Green staff support 11 friendly and social residents with a wide range of interests. They have a wide range of interests. This includes volunteering at our on-site stables, going shopping, walking around Ravenswood village, pop music, cycling, music, TV, and films. The people we support communicate verbally, at different levels. Makaton, PECS and objects of reference are also used by some of the residents.

Your Role at Norwood:

As a Support Worker, you will play a crucial role in empowering individuals with learning disabilities and autism to lead independent and fulfilling lives. Your responsibilities will include:

• Guiding and supporting individuals in their day-to-day activities.

• Encouraging the development of personal skills through hobbies and interests.

• Accompanying individuals to routine appointments.

• Teaching essential life skills like budgeting, shopping, and managing bills.

• Assisting with personal care and, if required, administering medication.

• Contributing to household tasks such as cleaning and cooking.

As a Support Worker, you will provide day to day support including:

• Helping the people we support to be independent and live a fulfilling life

• Supporting & encouraging the development of personal skills through hobbies and interests

• Accompanying the people we support to routine appointments

• Teaching life skills such as budgeting, shopping and paying bills

• Assisting with personal care and administrating medication (if required)

• Assisting with household tasks such as cleaning & cooking

• Moving and Positioning Certificate

• Experience of working with people with neurodevelopmental disabilities

• High-energy with a good level of physical fitness

• Desire to make a difference
