We’re looking for reliable and compassionate Support Workers to join the team at Tager, a structured and supportive home within Ravenswood Village. You’ll be part of a team that supports adults with complex needs to live safely and with dignity, doing meaningful things on their own terms. This is a hands-on role where consistency, calmness, and communication are key.

Tager is a purpose-built, single-level home within the Ravenswood Estate, supporting sixteen adults aged 20s to 50s with moderate to severe neurodevelopmental disabilities, including learning disabilities, autism, and additional needs such as epilepsy and bipolar disorder. The home is made up of four wings, each with four en-suite bedrooms, a kitchen/dining area, and access to garden spaces. While the environment is active and structured, residents are mostly independent of each other and build strong connections with staff rather than peers.

People at Tager use a variety of communication methods, including verbal language, PECS, gestures, body language, and objects of reference. Everyone has a Positive Behaviour Support Plan, and you’ll be trained to deliver support that’s calm, proactive, and person-led. Shifts are typically 07:00–21:00 with a 24-hour support rota in place. The rota flexes around the needs, routines, and preferred activities of each resident. You’ll join a values-led team committed to Kindness, Respect, Belonging, and Empowerment.

Your Day-to-Day

  • Support individuals with daily routines, including personal care and meals
  • Encourage participation in hobbies like swimming, shopping, cycling, and music
  • Communicate using PECS, gestures, or other non-verbal methods
  • Follow behaviour support plans with consistency and care
  • Maintain a structured, safe and respectful environment
  • Work closely with a consistent team to build trust and stability

Experience, Qualifications & Training

Essential:

  • Experience supporting adults with learning disabilities or autism
  • Understanding of alternative communication approaches
  • Awareness of Positive Behaviour Support
  • Able to commit to full-time hours, including weekends

Desirable:

  • Training in active support or PBS frameworks
  • Full, clean UK driving licence

We also welcome people with the right values and attitude who are new to care. Full induction and training will be provided.

We believe great support starts with great staff. Here’s what we offer:

  • £13.00 per hour (plus overtime at £14.30 and Bank Holidays at £19.50)
  • Fully funded induction and training
  • 25 days annual leave + 8 Bank Holidays (FTE)
  • Enhanced parental pay
  • Employee Assistance Programme
  • Health cash plan covering dental, optical, and therapy treatments, with virtual GP access, private consultations, and wellbeing tools via the My Medicash App
  • Cycle to Work scheme
  • £300 refer-a-friend bonus
  • Free on-site parking
  • A supportive, experienced team and management

We are a kind and compassionate community. Empowerment and respect are at the heart of everything we do and believe in at Norwood. If you are positive and resilient and a force for good, we are for you! We strive for excellence and to make a real difference to the lives of the people we support.
