About Norwood: Founded in 1795, Norwood is the oldest Jewish charity in the UK, and has been privileged to receive Royal Patronage since 1815. We support and empower neurodiverse children and their families and people with neurodevelopmental disabilities to live their best lives. Norwood works with local authorities to deliver wide-ranging services including residential and supported living accommodation and short-breaks facilities, as well as a range of support groups aimed at the whole family, not just the individual.

About The Service: The service's living area is on a single level ground floor, consisting of four wings. Each wing has four ensuite bedrooms, a kitchen dining area and garden. There is an office area on the first floor. We support sixteen people who are aged from their twenties to their fifties. They have moderate to severe learning disabilities, autism and some additional needs such as epilepsy and Bipolar Disorder. They have a wide range of interests including going shopping, swimming, cycling, coffee shop, music, TV, and films. The majority of the people we support do not seek out interaction with their housemates, preferring to engage with the support team.

As a Support Worker, you will provide day-to-day support including:

  • Helping the people we support to be independent and live a fulfilling life
  • Supporting & encouraging the development of personal skills through hobbies and interests
  • Accompanying the people we support to routine appointments
  • Teaching life skills such as budgeting, shopping and paying bills
  • Assisting with personal care and administering medication (if required)
  • Assisting with household tasks such as cleaning & cooking
  • Support alongside the Physical Activity Practitioner in the hydrotherapy pool
  • Drive the home car to take residents to appointments and outings
  • Previous experience as a Support Worker, supporting adults with neurodevelopmental disabilities such as autism
  • Experience supporting people with epilepsy
