About Norwood

Founded in 1795, Norwood is the oldest Jewish charity in the UK, and has been privileged to receive Royal Patronage since 1815. We support and empower neurodiverse children and their families and people with neurodevelopmental disabilities to live their best lives.

Norwood works with local authorities, to deliver wide-ranging services including residential and supported living accommodation and short-breaks facilities, as well as a range of support groups aimed at the whole family, not just the individual.

Ravenswood Village in Berkshire was established in 1953 by four families with the aim of providing residential care and education for their children with learning disabilities. Today, Ravenswood Village provides person centred care and support for almost one hundred adults with neurodevelopmental disabilities across 11 unique homes through both residential care and supported living services in a community setting.

Responsibilities

As a Bank Support Worker, you will provide day to day support including

As a Bank Support Worker, you will play a crucial role in empowering the people we support to lead independent and fulfilling lives. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Guiding and supporting individuals in their day-to-day activities and helping the people we support to be independent and live a fulfilling life.
  • Accompanying individuals to routine appointments.
  • Teaching essential life skills like budgeting, shopping, and managing bills.
  • Assisting with personal care and, if required, administering medication.
  • Contributing to household tasks such as cleaning and cooking.

Other essential requirements and desirable attributes:

  • Right to work in the UK without the need for Sponsorship in the next 6 months
  • Valid Moving and Positioning Certificate
  • Experience of working with people with neurodevelopmental disabilities
  • High-energy with a good level of physical fitness
  • Desire to make a difference

Induction information

We run mandatory 3-4-day induction training which will need to be fully completed prior to you starting in the role which you will be paid for, as per the hourly rate of £13. The induction would be a blend of online training as well as classroom based training at Ravenswood Village and must be completed prior to shifts being offered.
