The Role

As a Personal Care Assistant, you’ll be part of our client’s dedicated support team, providing essential care in their home. You’ll be employed by HomeCareDirect but will focus solely on supporting this client. This role involves providing personalised complex care for our client in Norwich, offering 24 hours a week on 12-hour shifts (e.g., 08:00 - 20:00, 09:00 - 21:00, or 20:30 – 08:30). You will work on a flexible rota across all days to ensure continuity of care.

About the Client & Responsibilities

Our client is a gentleman in his 50s with diabetes and MS that requires regular monitoring. He suffers from chronic pain and memory loss and needs support with mobility and daily living tasks, including personal/continence care (catheter, PEG feeding, blood glucose monitoring, medication). Responsibilities include ensuring hydration, bathing, domestic tasks, accompanying to appointments, and collaborating with the team.

Training & Support

We provide comprehensive, paid training (to CQC standards) covering:

  • Full induction
  • Safeguarding Adults
  • First Aid / Food Hygiene / Health & Safety
  • Personal / Catheter Care
  • Gastrostomy
  • Moving & Handling / Falls Awareness
  • Medication Care Needs / Blood Glucose Monitoring
  • Diabetes Awareness / Mental Health / MS

All training must be completed prior to start date and is paid at minimum wage.

  • Care experience preferred but not essential; training provided by our nurse
  • Knowledge of diabetes and MS
  • Comfort around dogs (client has a Labrador)
  • Full UK driving licence
  • Comfortable in a smoking environment
