An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced candidate to join the Medical Services Department at Norwich City Football Club in the role of Academy Medical Lead. The successful candidate will be responsible for the operational leadership of the physiotherapy and medical support service within the Academy and will work directly with the U21s team. This role will also deliver evidence based clinical care, injury prevention, pitch-side medical cover and rehab in alignment with EPPP standards and best practice. This is an excellent role for someone who is passionate about developing and delivering high quality medical services within an elite academy environment.

Key tasks/responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Lead the operational delivery of medical support services to the club's Academy in line with EPPP guidelines and recommendations.
  • Lead the clinical diagnosis and management of illness and injuries associated with all Academy players.
  • Lead in the delivery of physiotherapy support and emergency first aid services to the club's U21s playing squad for training and matches, and other teams as required.
  • Lead the monitoring and delivery of remote medical support services to all Academy loan players.
  • Act as a key contributor to EPPP audits, supporting evidence collation, documentation and continuous improvement planning.
  • Work integrally within the Academy MDT, attending regular meetings to discuss player health, rehabilitation progression, return-to-play decisions, load management, and availability.
  • Planning and management of the Academy's medical budget, in collaboration with the Head of Medical.
  • Provide clinical leadership and day-to-day oversight of Academy physiotherapy provision, supporting and mentoring medical staff.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Essential
  • HCPC Registered Physiotherapist
  • MSc in Physiotherapy or a Sports Physiotherapy / Medicine related subject
  • Minimum 5 years working within the elite sport environment (preferably football)
  • Live ATMMiF certificate
  • Demonstrable line management or supervisory experience within a sports medicine, healthcare or high-performance environment.
  • Desirable
  • Recognised post graduate Leadership qualification
  • Recognised strength and conditioning qualification (e.g., NSCA CSCS or UKSCA)
  • Advanced post-graduate training in sports medicine or related fields.
