Easton College is seeking a dedicated and experienced Assistant Animal Centre Manager to join our dynamic Animal and Equine team. This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in the operational leadership of our Animal Management Centre (AMC), supporting the development of our animal collection and curriculum delivery.
About the Role
As Assistant Animal Centre Manager, you will be responsible for the day-to-day management of the AMC, ensuring the highest standards of animal welfare, health and safety, and industry compliance. You will lead a team of technicians, coordinate practical learning sessions, and support curriculum delivery by preparing resources and maintaining facilities. You will also deputise for the Animal Centre Manager when required, including providing out-of-hours and emergency cover. The role includes weekend, bank holiday, and college holiday working, as well as participation in an on-call rota.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and support AMC technicians, promoting collaborative working and high standards.
- Ensure legal compliance with animal welfare legislation and health and safety protocols.
- Oversee animal husbandry, enrichment, accommodation, and health monitoring.
- Coordinate and support practical curriculum sessions and student learning.
- Maintain stock levels, equipment, and records, including use of animal management software.
- Liaise with suppliers and veterinary professionals.
- Promote the AMC through events and marketing activities.
About You
You will be a team-focused leader with a flexible and proactive approach. You’ll have:
- A degree in an animal-related subject.
- Recent, relevant industry experience across a range of species including aquatics, exotics, birds, and mammals.
- Experience in staff management and animal welfare auditing.
- Strong organisational and communication skills.
- A commitment to student success, safeguarding, and continuous professional development.
- A full driving licence is required.
