NORCAP’s mission is to improve aid to protect and empower people affected by crises and climate change. With expertise in the humanitarian, development, and peacebuilding sectors, we collaborate with local, national, and international partners on finding solutions that meet the needs of people at risk. PLRCAP aims to strengthen Nigerian NGOs through integrated training, mentorship, and partnership programmes, creating an NGO Support Hub that offers capacity‑building services across finance, HR, communications, and legal support. This collaboration reflects NORCAP’s commitment to empowering local actors and fostering sustainable humanitarian solutions.
We are seeking a Programme Assistant (Admin & Comms) to join our team in Abuja, Nigeria. This role is offered under a NORCAP national contract through NRC Nigeria and reports to the PLRCAP Project Manager. Travel within Nigeria may be required (approximately 15%). NB. This position is open exclusively to Nigerian citizens holding a valid Nigerian passport.
Role and Responsibilities
- Provide day‑to‑day administrative and operational support to the PLRCAP team.
- Assist with logistics, scheduling, documentation, and coordination of project activities.
- Support publicity and communications functions, including drafting and publishing social media content.
- Manage and maintain project files and documentation on SharePoint.
- Organise meetings, prepare reports, and track project timelines and deliverables.
- Develop engaging content for social media platforms and monitor analytics to optimise performance.
- Coordinate travel arrangements and liaise with NRC logistics and finance teams.
- Respond to inquiries via email and social media, ensuring timely and professional communication.
Qualifications and Experience
- University degree in Management, Social Sciences, Communications or a related field.
- 1–2 years of experience in administration and communications, preferably within a non‑profit or donor‑funded project.
- Strong knowledge of social media platforms (Twitter, LinkedIn) and content creation tools (e.g., Canva).
- Excellent organisational and communication skills, with proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a multicultural environment.
- Knowledge of social media analytics software including Google Analytics and Twitter Analytics to track audience engagement and campaign performance.
- Experience with content management systems and basic image/video editing software.
- Knowledge of graphic art applications such as Canva and Adobe Photoshop is desirable.
- Excellent internet research skills.
- Strong communication skills, including proficiency in drafting documents.
- Excellent work habits and willingness to work in a multi‑cultural environment.
