We're building the Moody's of autonomous systems. This is the technical co-founder role. $650B+ of sovereign AI investment is being deployed globally. The EU AI Act enforces from August 2026. UK SM&CR makes executives personally and criminally liable for AI they deploy. Lloyd's is excluding GenAI from policies entirely. Every regulated institution deploying AI needs independent verification infrastructure — and no infrastructure-grade solution exists. We're building it. Not compliance SaaS. Not an LLM wrapper. Infrastructure that sits between autonomous systems and the regulated world — the way Moody's sits between issuers and capital markets.
The CEO brings deep regulatory networks — King's Counsel, ex-FCA regulators, Lloyd's underwriters, sovereign government relationships across UK, EU, and GCC. A Founding Engineer is in place for implementation. What's missing is the technical leader who sets the architectural direction and builds this into a category-defining company.
The hard problems:
- Verification models for AI systems that are themselves evolving — continuous evaluation, not static audits
- RLHF annotation schemas that capture regulatory nuance across jurisdictions without collapsing to generic labels
- A data flywheel where every expert attestation compounds into increasingly accurate automated review
- Sovereign-first infrastructure with structural immunity to foreign jurisdictional overreach
- Real-time telemetry for multi-agent systems with sub-second intervention capabilities
What you'd own:
- Year 1 — The architectural decisions that determine whether this becomes infrastructure or just another SaaS product. Sovereign cloud design. RLHF schema. Verification model approach. Data architecture. You work alongside a Founding Engineer and ship the MVP as the technical co-founder who sets the standard for everything that follows.
- Year 2+ — Scale the engineering team. Multi-zone sovereign deployment. Cascade kill switch for multi-agent systems. You're in the room for the major VC round explaining why the sovereign data moat and regulatory lock-in create a defensible infrastructure company.
The opportunity:
- Co-founder-level equity — meaningful double-digit stake, 4-year vest, 1-year cliff, milestone acceleration
- Bootstrap model — VC round raised from strength, not desperation
- Below-market cash Year 1, scaling aggressively with revenue
- London preferred, UK remote considered
You might be:
- A researcher or senior engineer from DeepMind, Meta FAIR, Anthropic, OpenAI, or a frontier AI lab
- A senior infrastructure engineer from CrowdStrike, Datadog, Palantir, or Stripe
- An exceptional graduate of Cambridge, Oxford, Imperial, ETH Zurich, CMU, Stanford, MIT, or equivalent — with open source, shipped products, and published research (NeurIPS, ICML, IEEE)
- A senior engineer from RegTech/FinTech (Onfido, ComplyAdvantage, Thought Machine, Quantexa, Revolut)
Must-haves:
- You write production code today — Python + cloud infrastructure minimum
- You've built and shipped, not just researched
- You can hold your own in a Tier 1 VC partner meeting
- Based in the UK or relocating. Full-time from day one.
