PRINCIPLE SCOPE & PURPOSE OF JOB

We are looking for an experienced and hands‑on IT Manager to support the delivery of IT services across the business. Reporting to the Head of IT, this role is focused on ensuring smooth day-to-day operations, supporting users, and maintaining a secure and reliable IT environment.

KEY TASKS & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • IT Operations & Support
    • Take ownership of day-to-day IT operations and user support.
    • Ensure issues are resolved efficiently and with a strong focus on user experience.
    • Act as an escalation point for more complex technical issues.
    • Maintain high standards of service across all IT support activities.
  • Team Management
    • Line manage and support the Assistant IT Manager.
    • Help prioritise workload and ensure effective coverage.
    • Lead by example in delivering responsive, hands‑on support.
  • Cybersecurity & Reliability
    • Implement and maintain cybersecurity measures in line with company standards.
    • Support the Head of IT in managing risk, backups, and business continuity.
    • Ensure systems are patched, protected, and monitored appropriately.
    • Respond to incidents and support resolution where required.
  • Infrastructure & Systems
    • Support and maintain IT infrastructure (devices, networks, cloud services).
    • Administer and support Microsoft 365 (user management, basic configuration, troubleshooting).
    • Manage user accounts, access, and device setup.
    • Assist in maintaining documentation and system standards.
  • Hands‑On IT Support
    • Remain actively involved in day-to-day support, including setting up and deploying PCs, laptops, and mobile devices.
    • Troubleshooting hardware and software issues.
    • Supporting printers, phones, and office equipment.
    • Oversee onboarding and offboarding processes.
    • Ensure IT assets are tracked and maintained.
  • Applications & Systems
    • Support business applications and coordinate with third‑party providers.
    • Help users make effective use of systems and tools.
    • Exposure to systems such as Business Central is helpful but not essential.

Skills & Experience

  • Experience in a senior IT support, IT Manager, or similar role.
  • Strong hands‑on technical background in a Windows‑based environment.
  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft 365 (day‑to‑day administration and support).
  • Solid understanding of cybersecurity fundamentals and good practice.
  • Experience supporting end‑user devices and environments.
  • Experience mentoring or supervising others.
  • Ability to take ownership and make sound decisions in a small‑team environment.
  • Experience with endpoint/device management tools.
  • Exposure to cloud‑based environments.
  • Familiarity with ERP systems (e.g. Business Central).
  • Experience working with external IT providers or MSPs.
