Role Overview

The Finance Systems Team is responsible for supporting the core EMEA finance system (Aderant Sierra), including time, billing, expenses, vendors, tax and reporting.

This position supports day‑to‑day function of the firm’s EMEA finance systems and provides essential assistance to finance operations and data users, including senior stakeholders.

Responsibilities

  • Support the core EMEA finance system (Aderant Sierra), covering time, billing, expenses, vendors, tax and reporting.
  • Deliver ongoing data monitoring and management, and data acquisition and preparation for business and operational stakeholders.
  • Provide user support: respond to queries and requests from fee earners, secretaries, finance operations staff for data changes, extracts and updates.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues: monitor health and performance of data systems, identify and resolve quality issues, bottlenecks and anomalies, and minimize errors.
  • Work with third‑party support providers, IT and finance operations to resolve logged issues.
  • Lead data monitoring and management: enforce data governance and stewardship, permission structures, maintain taxonomies, schemas and mappings, oversee data cleansing, de‑duplication and remediation, and update data in line with business needs.
  • Source, collect, clean and structure data for operational use and analysis, using SQL queries and logic when necessary.
  • Monitor database servers, manage index fragmentation, optimise fact/aggregate tables, run routine maintenance plans and manage API syncs to ensure reliable data flows.
  • Identify opportunities for enhancements and work with teams to analyse, develop, test and implement changes; improve procedures and processes for stakeholders.

Qualifications

  • Senior Data Administrator with Aderant and finance operations experience.
  • 5+ years of experience in similar roles and a degree (or equivalent).
  • Excellent customer and user service skills, demonstrated by resolving user queries and working with challenging customers.
  • Experience in master data management and/or database administration and/or expertise in finance practice management systems (FPMS).
  • Advanced SQL proficiency; ability to run queries independently.
  • Experience working within structured ITSM frameworks such as ITIL.
  • Experience in a large, global law firm or other professional services environment.
  • Familiarity with core finance processes (general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, budgeting, forecasting, reporting) is ideal.
  • Solutions‑oriented and proactive approach to work.
  • Willingness to up‑skill on the job through internal and external training.
  • High level of discretion, sensitivity and confidentiality.
  • Team player – flexible and willing to take on extra responsibilities to support departmental or firm objectives.
