Background


The Global Practice Management System (GPMS) based on SAP technology went live in September 2017, streamlining our business processes with great success. In addition, Norton Rose Fulbright are in the process of implementing a new Financial Management System, with the finance business information team proving support to the FMS team.



The Finance Business Information (FBI) team play a critical role in ensuring a seamless implementation and ongoing support of these new capabilities. Our expertise in bridging the gap between business services and IT support departments is invaluable ensuring business continuity. With the new planning and financial consolidation features, we expect to empower the teams with better decision-making and resource optimisation.

The Role


This is a fantastic opportunity for an ambitious individual who wishes to be part of a progressive and customer‑centric team. The FBI team contains five highly technical individuals who specialise in Tableau, Power BI, SQL, SAP ECC, SAP BW, SAP Business Objects. We are now looking for a Business and Data Reporting Analyst to support the FBI team in meeting its objective of providing the business with first class support and continuity in providing financial business information.



The role would suit someone who has a financial background, understands financial system administration, business processes & reporting within a service industry and now seeking to gain a broader system analyst, data and reporting experience.



The expectation is that the successful candidate will relish the opportunity to develop and learn from the existing team to upskill and develop technical awareness and skills on how to use and maintain the various systems we have in place.



This role is a 12-month fixed term contract.



Key Responsibilities



  • Take ownership of the Finance Business Information team’s processes, identifying areas for improvement and ensuring tasks are completed accurately, on time, and with meticulous attention to detail.

  • Proactively communicate and collaborate with stakeholders at all levels to understand information needs based on user stories.

  • Engage with key business process owners to gather requirements, document solutions, and provide regular updates on deliverables.

  • Collaborate with team members to document business process changes, ensuring data quality and control are maintained.

  • Conduct detailed data reconciliations and investigations to identify and resolve data quality issues.

  • Provide business information support to the team as needed.

  • Take ownership of the FBI shared inbox and delegate requests to the appropriate team members.

  • Escalate functional issues as they arise to ensure timely resolution.

  • Set up and maintain schedules to ensure timely delivery of information.

  • Raise incident tickets and coordinate with relevant parties to resolve issues.

  • Learn and develop expertise in extracting data from SAP ECC, SAP Business Objects, and SAP BW.

  • Learn and develop expertise in processing and extracting data in Tableau, Power BI & SQL.

  • Perform other tasks as directed by the Senior Manager, Reporting & Business Information.

  • Proven ability to undertake detailed data reconciliations.

  • A problem solving and analytical mind-set.

  • Capable of producing high quality data documentation

  • Finance background with an understanding of business processes (S2C, P2P & FM)

  • Efficient working knowledge of MS Excel and MS Word

  • Solid numerical and analytical skills with excellent attention to detail

  • Ability to communicate effectively, both written and orally

  • Positive, committed and prepared to use initiative to develop.

  • Ability to take responsibility, meet deadlines and work under pressure with multiple tasks.

  • Collaborative: able to work successfully with both peers in the FBI team but also with stakeholders across the business



Advantageous



  • Experience of working in a professional services business (ideally legal)

  • Experience use of SAP based applications

  • Experience use of Power BI based applications
