Practice Group / Department: Business Development - London

The Team: This Business Development Executive (BDE) role sits within the Marketing & Business Development (MBD) function and the Europe, Middle East and Asia Pacific (EMEAPAC) region at Norton Rose Fulbright. The role will provide support on day-to-day and strategic business development and marketing activity for our Banking & Finance and Transport sectors, two key sectors for the firm. This includes involvement in client development, BD meetings and activity, campaign management, pitches, and events.

The Role: This role joins a senior business development manager and business development manager to support the busy sectors. The role holder will work in close cooperation with global MBD teams, knowledge teams and our MBD services team in Newcastle.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assisting with all aspects of planning and development of business development activity and the targeting of marketing activity (all channels).
  • Working with the sector leadership team and BD Managers to plan and implement business plans, budget proposals and campaign plans.
  • Implementing BD and marketing activity for the sector, including business development, client development, profile raising, marketing and communications, pitching and event management.
  • Acting as a key point of contact and ambassador for the practice with the wider business, MBD and other key stakeholders.
  • Establishing a close and effective relationship with the lawyers and partners within the sector.
  • Producing bespoke bids, pitches, and other client development presentations/content (formal and informal).
  • Supporting client development plans and activities.
  • Supporting and delivering client events, webinars and seminars.
  • Working closely with other MBD teams, for example, the client relationship, strategic bids, events, design and digital teams, and our Newcastle team.
  • Coordinating directory submissions, award submissions, credentials and marketing collateral production.
  • Supporting the management of relevant MBD budgets, including reporting of ROI.
  • Contributing and leading on best practice and being curious about the possible.

Skills And Experience Required:

  • Graduate calibre.
  • Experience in marketing and business development is desirable, as is experience of working in a legal/professional services/partnership environment.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, including good attention to detail.
  • A genuine interest in the sectors.
  • Confident and willing to take on additional responsibility as required.
  • Highly organised with a professional, confident, collaborative and proactive approach to their role.
  • Ability to manage competing priorities, multiple tasks and stakeholders.
  • Ability to react promptly and manage reactive requests alongside longer-term projects.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with confidence to work directly with fee-earners on projects.
  • Experienced in managing and writing credential statements/bids.
  • Understands the need to, and can manage, expectations.
