We provide the world's preeminent corporations and financial institutions with a full business law service. At Norton Rose Fulbright, our strategy and our culture are closely entwined. We know that our expansion will mean little unless it is underpinned by truly global collaboration and we understand that pioneering work only takes place when our people have room to move and think beyond boundaries. As well as the relevant skills and experience, we're looking for people who are innovative, commercial and value the work that they do.

The role will be based in Newcastle and report to the Head of Systems & Controls, General Counsel & Risk, based in London. The GC & Risk team handles a wide range of risk and compliance queries concerning conflicts of interest, client due diligence and client contracting. This role plays a specialised part of that team, by acting as an expert with respect to our Practice Management and Intapp Open systems, and answering a wide range of everyday queries from within our business.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide essential support to our New Business team, by investigating and addressing systems issues concerning our Intapp Open, SAP and other systems, and promoting technical best practice.
  • Liaise with Finance colleagues and lawyers regarding the status of new business requests (in our Intapp Open system) and escalate to colleagues where appropriate.
  • Help maintain our General Counsel & Risk function's email inbox, by answering frequent queries, gathering information and escalating or redirecting issues as appropriate.
  • Draft and manage our Team's New Business Lawyer Rota, to ensure fair and balanced lawyer availability for team escalations.
  • Provide general administrative, data and systems-related support to the GC and Risk function, as required.
  • Complete and coordinate client questionnaires about our business, in conjunction with other business service functions.
  • Any other ad-hoc tasks or projects that might be required.

Key Skills and Experience

  • Minimum 1 years' experience working in a business, legal or related professional services firm.
  • An interest in Risk and Compliance and Risk & Compliance software and systems.
  • Excellent IT skills and a willingness to learn and use a variety of practice management database and online software tools.
  • Research and critical-thinking skills.
  • Customer service mindset.
  • Organisational skills and ability to prioritise different work streams.
  • Good written and oral communication skills.
  • Accuracy and an eye for detail.
  • Ability to work under pressure with support.
  • Self-driven individual.
