The Team
Norton Rose Fulbright is a global law firm with a dedicated Environmental Law team, providing expert legal advice on complex environmental, social, and governance (ESG) issues, regulatory compliance, and transactional matters. Our team supports a broad client base including multinational corporations, energy companies, and government bodies, helping navigate evolving environmental legislation and sustainability challenges.
Key Responsibilities
- Advise clients on a wide range of regulatory and compliance matters, including but not limited to:
- ESG disclosure requirements and compliance with emerging ESG legislation
- Product safety issues, including managing notifications of non-compliance and product recalls
- Compliance with environmental and health and safety laws and regulations
- Conduct environmental and health and safety due diligence for corporate transactions, particularly in the energy and renewable sectors
- Assist in drafting and negotiating transactional documents such as Sale and Purchase Agreements (SPAs), warranties, and indemnities
- Support clients in ongoing civil and criminal litigation, including high-profile cases such as defending corporate manslaughter charges in Crown Court proceedings
- Deliver internal training sessions on new ESG developments and compliance requirements
- Collaborate with senior team members to develop and deliver external client training and seminars
- Engage in negotiation and drafting of various legal agreements relevant to environmental matters
Key Skills and Experience
- England & Wales qualified solicitor with 2-5 years’ worth experience
- Qualified solicitor with experience in environmental law, health and safety law, or ESG compliance
- Strong knowledge of current environmental and ESG regulations and emerging legislative trends
- Experience in transactional due diligence and drafting associated legal documents
- Proven ability to manage complex litigation and regulatory investigations
- Excellent communication and client management skills, with the ability to explain complex legal issues clearly
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
