The Facilities & Maintenance Manager is responsible for ensuring the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of Norton Motorcycles’ manufacturing facilities, infrastructure, and production equipment. The role leads the maintenance, facilities, and asset reliability strategy, maximising equipment uptime, supporting production performance, and enabling business growth. A core focus is maintaining a robust health, safety, and environmental (HSE) culture, ensuring statutory compliance, and supporting Norton’s sustainability and energy efficiency objectives. Working closely with Production, Production Engineering, Quality, Supply Chain, and HSE, this role is critical to operational continuity, new product introduction, and continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and develop a multi‑skilled Maintenance team, driving a safety‑first and reliability‑focused culture
  • Implement and manage a structured planned preventative maintenance (PPM) system for all plant, tooling, and infrastructure
  • Reduce unplanned downtime through data‑driven maintenance, root cause analysis, and permanent corrective actions
  • Own key reliability KPIs (uptime, MTBF, MTTR) and drive continuous improvement
  • Lead two Maintenance Technicians, conducting regular 1-2-1s and contributing to their professional development
  • Manage four site facilities, utilities, and critical systems (power, compressed air, HVAC, water)
  • Ensure facilities support safe, efficient, and scalable manufacturing operations
  • Lead infrastructure upgrades and asset lifecycle planning aligned to production growth
  • Ensure full compliance with health & safety legislation, company standards, and safe systems of work
  • Own statutory inspections, plant certification, permits, and contractor control
  • Support internal and external audits
  • Work with HSE and Sustainability leads to improve energy efficiency, resource usage, and environmental performance
  • Support CAPEX projects for equipment and facilities, ensuring safe delivery, commissioning, and handover
  • Manage contractors and suppliers to deliver work safely, on time, and within budget
  • Support Production Engineering with new equipment introduction, tooling reliability, and maintenance strategy

Essential Skills & Experience

  • Degree or equivalent experience in Mechanical, Electrical, or Maintenance Engineering
  • 18th Edition Qualification
  • Proven leadership experience in maintenance / facilities management within manufacturing
  • Strong knowledge of PPM systems, asset management, and reliability improvement
  • Experience managing facilities infrastructure and critical utilities
  • Sound understanding of HSE compliance, statutory inspections, and contractor management
  • Familiarity with CMMS and maintenance planning systems
