The Role
We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Junior Category Buyer to join the procurement team at Norton Motorcycles. This role offers an exciting opportunity to support purchasing and supply chain activities within a globally recognised premium motorcycle brand. The successful candidate will work closely with suppliers and internal stakeholders to ensure efficient procurement operations, strong supplier performance, and continuous improvement across purchasing processes.
Duties/Responsibilities
- Build, maintain, and manage strong supplier relationships while ensuring professional and consistent communication at all times.
- Support the purchasing function and collaborate with relevant departments to communicate and resolve supply issues that may impact projects within assigned category spend areas.
- Prepare and raise purchase orders, order schedules, and purchasing requisitions in accordance with company procedures.
- Create and maintain material master data to ensure accuracy within procurement systems.
- Coordinate the creation and consolidation of supplier drawing workflow packages.
- Carry out general procurement administration and maintain effective purchasing housekeeping processes.
- Support CAPEX management activities relating to company assets.
- Act as a key point of contact for internal stakeholders to resolve pricing, quality, delivery, and invoice-related issues, escalating where appropriate.
- Work collaboratively with team members to identify and implement continuous improvement opportunities within the purchasing function.
- Assist in the evaluation of current and prospective suppliers, assessing performance against quality, cost, and delivery metrics, and escalating concerns where necessary.
- Create and maintain Management Information Systems (MIS) reports and procurement-related data analysis.
Personal Specification
- Strong organisational skills with excellent attention to detail.
- Effective communication and relationship-building skills.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritise workload effectively.
- Good analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel.
- Experience with ERP or procurement systems would be advantageous.
- Understanding of purchasing, procurement, or supply chain processes is desirable.
- Ability to work collaboratively within a team environment.
Qualifications
- Previous experience in a purchasing, procurement, administration, or supply chain role is desirable.
- Relevant business, procurement, or supply chain qualification would be beneficial but not essential.
