The Role

Norton Motorcycles are seeking a Product Cost Engineer to support the development and production of high-performance and super premium Motorcycles.

This role will ensure accurate product costing, supplier cost validation, and continuous cost optimisation while maintaining the highest standards of performance, quality, and craftsmanship.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain component and vehicle cost models for premium motorcycles
  • Prepare should-cost calculations and cost estimates to validate supplier quotations for technology and build-to-print parts
  • Conduct component cost negotiations in collaboration with Buyers
  • Support new product development with target cost estimates and evaluations
  • Work closely with Program, Engineering, Purchasing, and Manufacturing teams to support business case evaluations and achieve cost targets
  • Analyse material costs, tooling investments, and assembly costs
  • Track actual vs. standard costs and recommend cost improvement actions
  • Develop cost norms to support part sourcing during prototype and early project phases
  • Set up and maintain foreign exchange (forex) and raw-material commodity indexation matrices for components procured
  • Support make-vs-buy decisions, sourcing strategies, and supplier negotiations
  • Evaluate the cost impact of engineering changes and new technologies
  • Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Industrial, Automotive, or Manufacturing Engineering and / or Finance equivalent degree (CIMA, ACA, ACCA Finance Qualification)
  • 7+ years of experience in cost engineering, product costing, or should-costing
  • Experience in automotive, motorcycles, motorsport, aerospace, or premium manufacturing
  • Strong knowledge of machining, casting, forging, composites (including manufacturing process knowledge) and vehicle assemblies
  • Ability to read engineering drawings and BOMs
