Assistant Head of House (Pastoral Support) - required May 2026
Term time only, 37 hours per week + 5 inset days
Salary: Grade 6 SCP 18-22: £31,537-£33,699 (Actual pro rata salary: £27,095 - £28,953)
We are seeking a highly articulate communicator who can navigate complex conversations with parents and carers with empathy and clarity. The ideal candidate will be a champion for every child, possessing the insight to see potential where others may see barriers. Furthermore, you will be a proactive practitioner, utilising data to monitor attendance, identify emerging trends, and implement decisive, impactful interventions.
The role will include:
- To assist House Heads in ensuring that:
- Daily attendance during am and pm registration is monitored which will include making calls to parents/carers
- The House System is effectively managed.
- Pupils are well behaved.
- Pupils develop a sense of pride, both in their particular House and as individuals.
- Oversee attendance for the House, promoting good attendance and ensuring registers are properly maintained.
- Actively follow up daily and persistent attendance issues.
To be a principal port of call for parents/carers in relation to pupil welfare, behaviour and barriers to learning.
We are looking for an individual with:
- Good interpersonal skills and able to work as an effective team member.
- Assertiveness, discretion and good communication skills.
- Experience of working with young people and/or an understanding of young people.
- The ability to work on their own and show initiative.
- A professional attitude and manner.
- Good knowledge of Google Drive, Microsoft Word and Excel (with the ability to adapt to new software packages).
- A First Aid at Work qualification (training can be provided).
