Your day-to-day as a Mechanical Technician:

  • Ensuring mechanical maintenance activities are performed in compliance with environmental and safety rules, and Group procedure.
  • Assist with the screening and actioning of non-breakdown mechanical work requests, and carrying out regular mechanical troubleshooting and repairs on machinery and equipment.
  • Executing all planned and reactive maintenance activities.
  • Researching innovative solutions aimed at ensuring the optimal operation of production equipment and improving mechanical maintenance efficiency.
  • Flexible approach to working with operating teams to ensure production KPI’s are delivered.
  • Performing activities in line with Group policy and procedure to achieve Zero Harm, e.g., LOTO, PTW, Pre-Task Risk Assessments, etc.
  • Collaborating with the spare parts department to ensure mechanical maintenance activities are performed efficiently and costs are controlled.
  • Carrying out building maintenance tasks where needed (or supervising internal colleagues or external resource to complete tasks).

Qualifications (desirable):

  • Recognised Mechanical Engineering Apprenticeship qualification
  • HNC level or equivalent in Mechanical Engineering

You will most likely have experience and understanding with respect to the following areas:

  • Laser alignment
  • Hydraulic and/or pneumatic systems and principles
  • Mechanical seals and installation
  • Safe use of lifting equipment in complex situations
  • Lubrication systems
  • Bearing installation, setting, and maintenance
  • Bench fitting
  • Safe use of hand, power, and measuring tools
  • Condition monitoring and interpretation of findings
  • Computerised Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS)
  • Safety and Environmental compliance
