If you’re an experienced Mechanical Technician with a heavy industry background looking for a new challenge, we have just the opportunity for you!
You will the facility in the planning and execution of all mechanical engineering tasks, including setting standards and implementing Preventative Maintenance Schedules (PM’s), Cleaning Inspection and Lubrication (CIL’s) and maintenance tasks on maintenance shuts.
Please note: The salary range advertised is based on a package comprising of the basic annual salary, equalised holiday pay, and on-call payment. This package may vary slightly each year based on your total working hours in the previous year, and as such, total hours worked this year will inform next year's overall package. More information will be provided throughout the recruitment process.
Your working pattern will be Days based (Monday to Friday) as well as 1-in-4 week callouts.
About the Role
Your day-to-day as a Mechanical Technician:
- Ensuring mechanical maintenance activities are performed in compliance with environmental and safety rules, and Group procedure.
- Assist with the screening and actioning of non-breakdown mechanical work requests, and carrying out regular mechanical troubleshooting and repairs on machinery and equipment.
- Executing all planned and reactive maintenance activities.
- Researching innovative solutions aimed at ensuring the optimal operation of production equipment and improving mechanical maintenance efficiency.
- Flexible approach to working with operating teams to ensure production KPI’s are delivered.
- Performing activities in line with Group policy and procedure to achieve Zero Harm, e.g., LOTO, PTW, Pre-Task Risk Assessments, etc.
- Collaborating with the spare parts department to ensure mechanical maintenance activities are performed efficiently and costs are controlled.
- Carrying out building maintenance tasks where needed (or supervising internal colleagues or external resource to complete tasks).

Requirements
What we need from you as a Mechanical Technician:
- Flair for problem solving

Qualifications (desirable):
- Recognised Mechanical Engineering Apprenticeship qualification
- HNC level or equivalent in Mechanical Engineering
You will most likely have experience and understanding with respect to the following areas:
- Laser alignment
- Hydraulic and/or pneumatic systems and principles
- Mechanical seals and installation
- Safe use of lifting equipment in complex situations
- Lubrication systems
- Bearing installation, setting, and maintenance
- Bench fitting
- Safe use of hand, power, and measuring tools
- SOP/RA development
- Condition monitoring and interpretation of findings
- Centrifugal/mono/multistage pump fault diagnosis
- Computerised Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS)
- Safety and Environmental compliance
