The Medical Assistant is responsible for providing direct and indirect client care activities under the supervision of a Physician, Nurse Practitioner, a Registered Nurse (RN), or Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN). This position is responsible for measuring vital signs, including measurement of blood pressure, respirations, and pulse. The Medical Assistant conducts medication reconciliations, collects/verifies information regarding allergies, tobacco, and alcohol use, and documents interactions with clients. This position is responsible for conducting prescription pre-authorizations and aiding providers and nursing staff members as needed.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • A combination of psychiatric work experience or relevant education, and training, which indicates the possession of knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to perform essential job duties required.
  • Graduation from high school and certification from an accredited clinical medical assistant program (or 1 year of relevant experience).
  • Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA) certification preferred.
  • Current Basic Cardiac Life Support Certificate or eligibility to be obtained.
  • Must possess a valid Driver's License, good driving record and the ability to provide own transportation.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • May be exposed to allergenic environments from clients' homes, including dust, smoke, pet contamination, cleaning supplies, etc.
  • May be exposed to clients with infectious diseases.
  • Must be able to drive for long periods of time to travel in and out of the catchment area as needed.
  • Must be able to walk distances, climb and descend stairs, maneuver in and out of agency vehicles.
  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Must be able to lift/push/pull up to 25 pounds at times.

SALARY: $38,172

RETIREMENT: NWCSB participates in Virginia Retirement System.
