Three positions available for the 26/27 school year (August 24, 2026 to 2027). The position is classified and part of the Early Learning department.

Key Information

  • Location: Meadowlark Academy (within Lewis & Clark Elementary), St. Helens School District
  • Reports To: Principal
  • Compensation: $22.07 – $26.39 per hour (DOE)
  • Bargaining Unit: OSEA
  • FTE: 0.9375 (37.5 hours per week)
  • Position Size: 3 openings

Responsibilities

  • Prepare instructional materials under the direction of a licensed teacher.
  • Provide instruction to individuals and small groups of students, focusing on IEP and IFSP objectives.
  • Assist the teacher in planning and grading students' assignments.
  • Record and maintain required data and paperwork for the licensed teacher.
  • Support students with restroom, safety, and behavioral needs during class, recess, and bus activities.
  • Maintain student safety, monitor behaviour, and complete accurate incident reports.
  • Participate in restraint training as required.
  • Maintain confidentiality of student records and classroom activities.
  • Demonstrate regular and consistent attendance and punctuality.
  • Collaborate and communicate effectively with staff and stakeholders at all levels.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned (e.g., washing clothing, dishes; sanitising classroom items; arranging furniture).

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Physical ability to lift a student from a wheelchair to a floor and onto/off a changing table.
  • Child Care Central Background Registry Clearance.
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • Spanish language proficiency preferred.
  • CPR certification and blood‑borne pathogen instruction.
  • Computer skills including email, internet applications, Google Suite, and MS Word.
