DIVISION: College Operations and Finance

SUPERVISOR: Director of Financial Aid

BASIC FUNCTION: Advise students, parents, faculty, staff, and other constituents on financial aid, and administer financial aid programs to ensure compliance with federal, state, and institutional regulations.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Required – Bachelor’s degree.
  • Knowledge of current software applications.
  • Preferred – Experience in higher educational setting or related business/financial field.
  • Income tax knowledge, accounting, or financial aid experience.
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish languages.
  • Copies of all academic transcripts are required. Unofficial copies are acceptable at the time of application. Upon receipt of a conditional offer of employment, a complete set of original transcripts will be required.

DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assist students, parents, faculty, staff, and other constituents with the financial aid process, the completion of appropriate forms, and use independent judgment to advise accordingly.
  • Maintain familiarity of federal and state regulations and College policy and procedures in order to administer campus financial aid operations in accordance with the same.
  • Authorize, award, process, and disburse federal, state, and institutional financial aid programs and ensure compliance.
  • Assist with the implementation of the computer systems to ensure compliance with federal, state, and institutional regulations.
  • Research and interpret federal and state regulations and ensure compliance.
  • Complete the verification process on student files and maintain verification policy and procedures to ensure compliance with regulations and College policy.
  • Administer the work-study programs in accordance with federal and state regulations and College policy.
  • Perform, manage, and develop policies and procedures for the return of Title IV funds process according to regulations.
  • Responsible for updating consumer information to ensure compliance with federal regulations.
  • Maintain an updated Policy and Procedure Manual.
  • Coordinate and implement a default reduction plan.
  • Prepare various federal, state, and institutional reports in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Develop and conduct internal and external financial aid presentations.
  • Assist in the development of department goals and develop new ideas and initiatives to enhance and streamline office operations.
  • Supervise and evaluate Financial Aid Secretary.
  • Serve on College committees as assigned.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Financial Aid.
