Job purpose
The Product Owner is responsible for turning product strategy into effective, high-quality delivery for a single platform (either ConneXon or FARSITE). Working closely with the Head of Product, Business Analysts, and delivery teams, the Product Owner translates approved roadmap priorities into delivery-ready backlogs, supports clear and well-understood requirements, and plays an embedded role within the agile team to enable predictable, sustainable delivery. The Product Owner is a core member of the scrum team, ensuring delivery discipline while supporting continuous improvement and ensuring commercial and user priorities are executed effectively.
Key Responsibilities
- Own and maintain the product backlog for the assigned platform (ConneXon or FARSITE).
- Work from roadmap priorities, business cases, and business requirements provided by the Head of Product.
- Collaborate closely with Business Analysts to define clear user stories and acceptance criteria, refined through collaborative practices such as backlog refinement and three-amigos discussions.
- Act as a dedicated member of the scrum team, attending and actively participating in all agile ceremonies (stand-ups, sprint planning, sprint reviews, retrospectives).
- Work day-to-day with users, developers, testers, and analysts to clarify requirements and assist in resolving delivery blockers in partnership with the Scrum Master.
- Support release readiness for the assigned platform, working with Release Management and Test Leads where applicable.
- Ensure validated client, user, and customer feedback is translated into delivery-ready backlog items aligned to roadmap priorities.
- Track sprint progress, delivery metrics, and quality, working with the team to support continuous improvement.
- Balance speed, quality, and sustainability of delivery in line with the platform's risk profile.
- Run and facilitate the Product Change Board, triaging, assessing and prioritising change requests and ensure approved changes are promptly and accurately represented in the backlog.
Skills and Experience
Essential
- Experience as a Product Owner within a cross-functional software development team.
- Strong exposure to agile delivery methods and practices.
- Proven track record of translating client, user, and customer needs into valuable product features.
- Ability to work effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Desirable
- Degree-level education, ideally in a technical or related subject.
- Experience working on software or technology-led products.
- Experience or knowledge of systems validation.
- Certified Scrum Product Owner (or equivalent).
- Experience working in complex, data-driven, or regulated environments.

Location: Office based in Greater Manchester – Bright Building, Manchester Science Park, flexible office/home-based arrangements are available.
Hours of work: 37.5 hours in total, flexible office hours are available.
