We’re looking for a Water Technician’s to join our team at Northumbrian Water. This is a practical, field-based role that’s perfect for those who enjoy working outdoors and tackling new challenges every day.
You’ll be part of a skilled team responsible for maintaining our Water Network, which includes reservoirs, pumping stations, large-diameter water mains, and control valves. Working in a variety of environments and weather conditions, even confined spaces to access underground assets, it means no two days will ever be the same.
You will work across our operating area, managing and resolving customer & network problems. This means you will be working as part of a customer focussed team who will all play a part to help deliver the company’s 14 ambitious goals which is at the heart of our 2020/25 plan and beyond.
We’ll empower you with comprehensive training and support to help you make confident, on the spot decisions, ensuring you work smarter.
This role also provides a fantastic opportunity to develop specialist knowledge in water networks, while taking on operational challenges and delivering effective solutions.
You’ll play a key role in supporting operational teams across the region as well as ensuring high standards in water quality, health & safety, and environmental protection.

About you
We’re looking for someone who’s a team player but also confident working independently when needed. You’ll be a strong communicator with a natural passion for problem-solving and thinking on your feet.
Given the hands on nature of this role, we’re looking for someone with proven skills and experience, along with the physical ability to work in confined spaces and handle heavy equipment safely and effectively to meet our customers’ expectations.
You’ll also bring a positive attitude, a desire to learn, and a flexible approach to adapt to working both in and out of hours when required as there is a requirement to participate in an out of hours stand-by rota.
You will require a full valid manual UK driving license.
