We’re looking for a recent Graduate with a passion for Innovation to join us as an Innovation Facilitator, where you will support the Innovation Team, specifically with the design and delivery of design sprints and workshops, the innovation festival project and pipeline reporting and progress and supporting key innovation project delivery.
You’ll be:
- Working with the innovation facilitator to lead workshops and design sprints that run across the year in NWG. Specifically, able to lead these independently and bring in new ways to do this. Passing on this skill and knowledge to other NWG employees and innovation festival partners.
- Own the design and delivery of specific initiatives and sub-projects with the innovation festival project.
- Assist in the progress reporting of the innovation pipeline.
- Become the innovation lead for a number of key innovation projects that are run across the business to speed delivery.
- Good communication and liaison with innovation ambassador group and own a sub-set of the innovation ambassador monthly meetings.
- Become knowledgeable about the external funding opportunities and processes and assist the Innovation Partnership Manager during peak times (autumn).
- To work to specified deadlines, demonstrating strong organisation and time management skills.
- To think creatively to develop new ideas and concepts, while also enhancing and building on existing work.
About the Innovation Festival
Have you heard about our Innovation Festival here at Northumbrian Water? If not, why not, as this our yearly festival where scores of innovators flock to Newcastle Racecourse. The festival, which has been running since 2017, sees huge guests delivering talks on creativity, technology and innovation.
Over 2,000 innovators from across the globe, including Australia, Belgium, South Africa, Spain, Nigeria and Poland, took part in the event in 2022 and got involved with sprints, hacks and dashes aimed at solving huge problems such as water scarcity and cyber security. Other attendees included representatives from every water company in the country, MPs and senior officials from the utility and environmental sectors as well as over 100 pupils from schools across the region.
About you
We’re looking for you to have an innovation related master’s degree or experience of an innovation role, experience of running workshops and design sprints, have amazing innovative skills and to be:
- Creativity, evidence of design and implementation of original work.
- Analytical skills – able to work with different kinds of information, identify trends and draw meaningful conclusions
- Interpersonal and communication skills – verbal and written communication and effective listening
- Teamwork – able to build positive working relationships
- Organisation – able to prioritise, work effectively and productively
- IT Skills – comfortable using Microsoft Office systems including Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint and Word and Miro or other whiteboard software.
- An innovation related master’s degree or experience of an innovation role.
- Experience of running workshops and design sprints.
- Presenting findings and recommendations both formally and informally.
- Working effectively with others to achieve a goal or objective.
- Experience of effectively communicating to multi stakeholder teams.
- Demonstration of creativity in past roles.
