Working hours: Full time 37 hours per week (flexible working arrangements including part time will be considered)

We have a new opportunity for a Cost Analyst to join our Programme Management Office. Reporting into the Cost and Database Engineer, you will ensure projects and programmes at Northumbrian Water comply with best practice, driving our cost maturity through early cost identification, robust analysis and assessment.

In this role, you will be responsible for:

  • Analysis of cost data for population of the Company’s capex scoping and cost estimating system (iMod) and management of the costing engine within iMod.
  • Carrying out analysis of NWL costing data in line with QA procedures, and uploading data into costing price databases to an agreed structure.
  • Liaising with suppliers and capital project delivery teams to collect and analyse unit cost, rate and carbon data for the costing price database.
  • Updating database records ensuring they are robust and statistically valid for costing purposes.
  • Analysing project cost data to work breakdown structure and uploading to corporate cost database, identifying and working with suppliers to fill in any data gaps.
  • Maintaining and monitoring the project cost data information control sheet and liaising with delivery teams to ensure all required information is received.

About you:

If you have experience in cost analysis, quantity surveying, engineering or operational role, with a clear commitment to continuous improvement, we would love to hear from you! You will be at least part-qualified in an Engineering, QS or Financial discipline, or have the relevant equivalent experience. You will understand cost analysis processes and knowledge of price databases, coding structures and product catalogues e.g. CESMM and MEICA measurement rules. You understand asset hierarchies and structure including locations, site and process classes and can understand and interpret technical drawings, P&IDs and works information at different stages of a project. You are able to interrogate systems and analyse and interpret data outputs, and reconcile tenders and final measurement documentation. You demonstrate awareness of PowerBI and can provide reporting at an appropriate level for a range of stakeholders, and can add value through your awareness of integrated controls and dependencies within a PMO environment. You are customer focused, with excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to liaise effectively with internal customers, suppliers and other stakeholders.
