Electrical Technician in Northumbrian Water's Maintenance team. Work out of our Howdon, Tyne and Wear facility, covering sites across Northumberland and Tyneside. Use expertise in fault diagnosis and preventive maintenance to improve plant availability. Specialisation opportunities in PLCs, telemetry, level control and variable speed drives. Fully mobile worker with company van; all tools provided. Participate in an out‑of‑hour standby rota with additional payment for standby, callouts and extra hours.

Responsibilities

  • Diagnose faults and perform preventive and reactive breakdown maintenance.
  • Read electrical drawings to identify faults and replace defective components.
  • Manage time efficiently with minimal supervision.
  • Participate in the out‑of‑hour standby rota.
  • Ensure all work complies with Health and Safety procedures.

Qualifications

  • Minimum ONC/NVQ Level 3 or equivalent in Electrical Engineering.
  • Background in maintenance of electrical equipment, including planned work and reactive breakdowns.
  • Hands‑on practical approach and strong analytical skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and teamwork.
  • Full UK manual driving licence.
  • DBS check required prior to employment.
