Working as part of multi-disciplinary teams, you will support the Principal Investigator in the delivery of research activity on "Feasibility of On-Site 3D Printed Housing Using Recycled Demolition Waste".

Key responsibilities include:

  • Designing experimental programmes
  • Contributing original ideas for material formulations and testing methodologies
  • Collaborating with industrial and academic partners
  • Disseminating research findings through technical reports and peer-reviewed publications

This is a fixed-term postdoctoral position (8 months) funded by Innovate UK research grant with an expected start date of 1 May 2026.

This research project is being delivered within the School of Engineering, Physics and Mathematics at Northumbria University Newcastle. You will join a collaborative consortium bringing together the leading UK construction industry partners and Northumbria University with construction technology expertise. The team combines construction innovation and technology, structural engineering expertise, and architectural design. This multidisciplinary partnership creates a unique environment bridging academic rigour with construction industry experience, and translating cutting-edge research into practical solutions.

Applicants should hold a PhD in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, Materials Science, or a closely related discipline, and have demonstrable specialist expert knowledge in 3D concrete printing and cementitious composites.
