As a Fitness Instructor, you’ll play a key role in the daily operation of Sport Central's gym by providing a welcoming and safe experience for our customers. You’ll deliver a range of fitness appointments, including gym inductions, health assessments, as well as leading high-quality fitness classes to our members. This is a customer-facing role, so you’ll be actively engaging with members as well as supporting operational tasks as needed. Good knowledge of all Northumbria Sport products and services is essential.
Part-time position, working 7.4 hours per week. The role is based at Sport Central, Northumbria University’s City Campus, reporting to the Duty Manager within Northumbria Sport.
Responsibilities
- Deliver a range of fitness appointments (gym inductions, health assessments) and lead high-quality fitness classes for members.
- Act as a welcoming, helpful, and safety-conscious presence in the gym environment.
- Engage with members and support operational tasks as needed to ensure smooth gym operations.
- Maintain knowledge of Northumbria Sport products and services and communicate effectively with members and colleagues.
Qualifications
- Excellent verbal communication skills.
- Experience of delivering customer service excellence in a busy gym environment.
- Qualified to instruct at least 3 different Group Exercise Classes.
- Knowledge of how to set, monitor and evaluate Health & Fitness goals.
- A good understanding of how to behave appropriately with members and colleagues.
