ABOUT THE ROLE

This is a great opportunity to build genuine hands‑on expertise in Oracle Fusion Finance while playing a real part in developing Northumbria's in‑house Oracle capability. Working closely with the team supporting the University's Oracle system (NUPF), you will help resolve Finance‑related issues raised across the University, look for ways to reduce them happening again, and contribute to ongoing improvements in how our Finance system and processes work.

Job Description

You will get exposure across a broad range of Finance modules — including General Ledger, Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Fixed Assets, Procurement, Expenses, Tax, and Projects & Grants, as well as supporting Oracle's quarterly release cycle, testing changes, and helping produce the reporting and data insights that inform decision‑making across the University. You will also have the chance to provide training and guidance to colleagues as your own knowledge grows.

This role suits someone who's curious, enjoys problem‑solving, and wants to develop finance and systems expertise in a supportive team environment.

About The Team

Within People and Organisational Culture, this role sits within the team responsible for supporting Northumbria’s Oracle Fusion Cloud platform (NUPF), which underpins our HR, Payroll and Finance functions. The team also plays a key role in enhancing the wider people experience, delivering insights, and driving continuous improvement across the organisation. In this role, you will work closely with colleagues across the People Experience, Insights and Improvement team, as well as Finance colleagues, fostering a collaborative approach to problem‑solving, innovation and service enhancement.

About You

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and the wider Office suite
  • Experience of contributing to improvements in systems, processes or working practices
  • Confidence using systems or software, such as helpdesk or ticket‑logging tools
  • The ability to use initiative to work through complex problems and find practical solutions
  • Strong organisational skills, with the ability to plan and prioritise across competing demands
  • Positive, inclusive working style and the ability to motivate others to achieve results
