ABOUT THE ROLE
Do you have a passion for international education and an understanding of what it means to study far from home? Are you someone who can communicate confidently across cultures and thrives in a fast-paced, people-focused environment? This placement offers a unique window into the world of international student recruitment and partnerships — and the chance to make a real contribution to one of Northumbria's most important strategic priorities.
As a Student Placement within our International team, you'll be supporting both the Transnational Education (TNE) and International Recruitment (IR) teams — two interconnected areas that sit at the heart of Northumbria's global growth ambitions.
You'll work with partners, agents and applicants from around the world, helping to keep relationships running smoothly, information flowing accurately, and recruitment activity moving forward. It's a role that demands equal parts organisation and people skills, and one that will give you genuine insight into how a major UK university attracts and supports its international student community.
This placement is a fixed term role lasting 12 months, starting in September 2026 and ending in August 2027.
ABOUT THE TEAM
The Marketing team is located in Pandon Building at our Newcastle City Campus. You will be working in a busy, multi-branched department with around 175 members of staff. The variation of work creates a vibrant and absorbing environment where you will not only get to work on your own tasks, but collaboratively with your team. You will also play a vital role in other activities that support the objectives of the wider department.

To be successful in the role you will:
- Be well organised with the ability to meet deadlines.
- Have the ability to work on your own initiative, and collaboratively as part of a team.
- Have strong IT skills with experience in the Microsoft Office suite.
- Have excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
- Have strong attention to detail, with the ability to think creatively and methodically to solve problems.
- Be a current Northumbria second-year undergraduate student, looking for a placement in their third year.
