The Sport Assistant will demonstrate flexibility by undertaking a range of customer-facing duties across the sport facility or service area. They will play a key role in creating a welcoming, safe, and high-quality experience for all users. A strong understanding of Northumbria Sport’s full range of products and services is essential for this role alongside experience of working within a swimming pool wet environment.
Please note these are part time positions for 14.8 hours per week, with the successful candidates working the following shift patterns:
- Thursday 14:30-22:24
- Sunday 06:36-14:30
- Or Monday 14:30-22:24
- Saturday 06:36-14:30
ABOUT THE TEAM
Reporting directly to the Duty Manager, this role will be part of Northumbria Sport, a core department within Campus Services. Northumbria Sport is committed to providing an outstanding student experience through a variety of sport, fitness, and wellbeing programmes. The role will be based at Sport Central, but working at our Coach Lane Sports Ground facility may be required.

- Good understanding of Customer Service Experience requirement
- Ability to work on own initiative and as part of a team
- Good verbal and written communication skills
- The initiative to solve problems of a practical nature
- Good knowledge of pool operation and a wet environment
- National Pool Lifeguard Qualification or willingness to attain
