ABOUT THE ROLE
Ever noticed how some websites just work and others make you want to give up halfway through? Or wondered how organisations keep their digital presence consistent, accessible and up to date as the tools around them keep changing? This placement sits right in the middle of that challenge.
As a Student Placement in our Digital team, you'll be editing and publishing web content, supporting UX audits and design, using AI tools to improve the way we work, and helping colleagues across the University get more from our digital platforms. The work you do will shape how thousands of prospective students experience Northumbria online.
You don't need to arrive with all the answers. You do need to be curious, willing to have a go, and genuinely interested in how digital experiences are made, whether you're coming at that from marketing, computing, business or somewhere else entirely. This is a fixed term placement lasting 12 months, starting in September 2026 and ending in August 2027.
ABOUT THE TEAM
The Marketing team is located in Pandon Building at our Newcastle City Campus. You will be working in a busy, multi-branched department with around 175 members of staff. The variation of work creates a vibrant and absorbing environment where you will not only get to work on your own tasks, but collaboratively with your team. You will also play a vital role in other activities that support the objectives of the wider department.
ABOUT YOU
To be successful in the role you will:
- Be well organised with the ability to meet deadlines.
- Have the ability to work on your own initiative, and collaboratively as part of a team.
- Have strong IT skills with experience in the Microsoft Office suite.
- Have excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
- Have strong attention to detail, with the ability to think creatively and methodically to solve problems.
- Be a current Northumbria second-year undergraduate student, looking for a placement in their third year.
