We are seeking a Band 4 Registered Pharmacy Technician to support a group of GP practices within the West Northumberland Neighbourhood (NPC Ponteland, NPC Haydon Bridge and Allendale). The role involves working closely with clinical and administrative colleagues to process medication related tasks and may require travel between Ponteland and Haydon Bridge. The base site will be Ponteland, mileage can be claimed from the base site, and the postholder must have business insurance on their policy.
Responsibilities
- Contribute to the delivery of a comprehensive primary care medicines management system acting on current best practice.
- Undertake medicines supply, actioning discharge summary medication changes, liaising with care homes regarding prescription queries and supporting the organisation move towards online prescription services.
- Work predominantly within practice but remain flexible to meet wider demands of the network.
- Work under the management of the Clinical Pharmacists in the West Neighbourhood to deliver medicines management activities including medicines reconciliation and repeat prescription requests.
- Liaise with pharmacy staff in all sectors and other healthcare professionals to ensure a patient‑orientated medicines management service is provided, including conducting medicines reviews for patients identified by the multidisciplinary team or other initiatives.
- Collaborate closely with the Clinical Pharmacists to adopt a team approach to medicines management, providing advice to healthcare professionals, patients and carers.
- Develop and undertake medicines management audits, support discussion within the practice and agree subsequent actions.
- Role‑model compassionate and inclusive leadership, engaging, enabling and empowering others, using coaching to promote learning and quality improvement and facilitating team working within and across departments.
Qualifications
- Band 4 Registered Pharmacy Technician (UK registered).
- Proficiency in using SystmOne is an advantage but not essential.
- Ability to work flexibly across multiple sites and travel between practices.
- Business insurance ensuring coverage for cross‑site work.
- Will meet the essential criteria as outlined by NPC, including any requirements for fit and proper person status.
