The predicted salary is between 28800 - 43200 £ per year.

Salary: £36,066 – £41,028 pa Pro Rata (Please note it is Northumbria Police policy to appoint at the beginning of the band)

Hours: 29.6 hours per week (flexibility around days however must include a Thursday)

Location: Agile, Fourth Banks one day a week and homeworking. Please be advised this may change to two days a week depending on changes to Force policy. Some additional travel may be required to other force locations.

The role

As our Workforce Capability Adviser, you’ll play a key role in ensuring the right people have the right skills at the right time, helping the organisation succeed now and in the future. You’ll work closely with business leads and stakeholders to identify learning and development needs across allocated areas and support the planning and delivery of training that builds capability across the force.

What you’ll do

  • Lead training needs analysis for allocated areas, identifying skills gaps, risks, and future capability requirements
  • Develop and manage service delivery plans, ensuring effective use of resources, budgets, and alignment with organisational priorities
  • Provide expert advice to senior leaders, using data and insights to support strategic decisions, succession planning, and risk management
  • Collaborate with internal and external partners to deliver learning solutions, manage supplier relationships, and support continuous improvement
  • Produce and manage accurate workforce data to support planning, reporting, compliance, and long-term capability development.
  • Act as a trusted advisor, influencing decisions through evidence‑based insights and clear communication.

What you’ll bring

  • Financial acumen and experience in evaluating cost‑benefit of workforce initiatives.
  • Proven experience in training needs analysis, service delivery planning, and managing training resources.
  • Strong understanding of the full training cycle and workforce capability planning.
  • Ability to analyse complex data and translate it into actionable insights.
  • Confident using Learning Management Systems and Microsoft Office, especially Excel.
  • Skilled in managing and reporting on workforce data.
  • Excellent planning and prioritisation skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and internal and external stakeholders.
  • High attention to detail and accuracy in record‑keeping and reporting and strong written and verbal communication skills, including report writing and presenting.

Terms of appointment

This is a permanent role subject to a six‑month probationary period.
