Location: Gateshead Police Station (Expected to be moving to Cobalt September 2026)

Hours: 37 hours per week. Shift work, including weekends and bank holidays.

CCTV is crucial for community safety, helping to prevent, deter, and detect crime by recording evidence for court use, protecting both the public and officers. CCTV Operators must stay vigilant against potential terrorist threats, coordinating with internal and external experts. They play a key role in ongoing situations, ensuring public and officer safety.

What you’ll do:

  • Patrol cameras to ensure public safety and search for wanted or missing persons.
  • Monitor ANPR and respond to alerts, liaising with relevant parties.
  • Provide high-quality CCTV footage and prepare accurate statements for court cases.
  • Support large-scale events like football matches and demonstrations.
  • Perform administrative duties using MS Office and CCTV systems.
  • Use radios to coordinate during incidents and communicate clearly with all parties.

What you’ll bring:

  • Ability to work in a pressurised environment.
  • Good recall and ability to communicate what you see.
  • Must be able to work unsupervised and be flexible to work shifts including weekends and bank holidays.
