Overview

Be among the first 25 applicants. We are looking for enthusiastic nurses who are keen to work within our Frailty Same Day Emergency Care (OPAU: Old persons assessment unit). You will be working within the Urgent and Emergency Care Division as part of a fast-paced, care of the elderly setting. This department aims to provide bespoke care to our elderly patients and provide treatments to prevent unnecessary hospital admission.

You will need to be a highly motivated nurse who is committed to delivering high standards of care and can demonstrate excellent clinical and communication skills. Responsibilities

  • Delivering high quality direct patient care
  • Following patient admission, transfer and discharge processes
  • Maintaining a safe environment
  • Medication administration
  • Care planning, implementation and evaluation
  • Communicating effectively with the multidisciplinary team, patients, families and their carers
  • Maintaining best practice, ensuring compliance with evidence-based practice and research
  • Accountable to the nurse in charge of each shift and supporting junior colleagues
  • Maintaining skills, knowledge and competencies adhering to the NMC Code of Professional Conduct and Trust policies and procedures

Qualifications and requirements

  • Registered Nurse (hospital setting)
  • Willingness to work within a team nursing framework and provide individualised patient care
  • Ability to collaborate with an integrated multidisciplinary team to develop, implement and evaluate care programmes
  • Ability to contribute to maintaining a suitable and stimulating learning environment and to supervise junior registered and non-registered staff
