Specialist Physiotherapist

An exciting opportunity has arisen to recruit a Band 6 Musculoskeletal (MSK) Physiotherapist to work in JMAPS (Joint Musculoskeletal And Pain Service) and our First Contact Practice Musculoskeletal team. The ideal candidate will be enthusiastic, skilled, and have evidence of significant experience in musculoskeletal physiotherapy, including post-operative care. Completion of the First Contact Practitioner (Musculoskeletal) Roadmap is desirable. A valid driving licence is essential for this role.

The role is based within the Physiotherapy department at Wansbeck General Hospital and/or the surrounding JMAPS sites and GP practices, with potential for Trust-wide working. There may be development opportunities in group rehabilitation, rheumatology physiotherapy, and pain management physiotherapy. CPD is actively encouraged within our teams, and supervision is provided by Senior Physiotherapy clinicians supporting staff to achieve their individual learning outcomes, supported by a robust appraisal system.

• Assess and treat an independent physiotherapy caseload.
• Work as a First Contact Practitioner with indirect supervision as required.
• Work as part of the physiotherapy team under the supervision of senior physiotherapy staff.
• Assess, diagnose, plan, implement, and evaluate therapy programmes for individual patients.
• Liaise regularly with senior staff to ensure appropriate management of patients.
• Maintain a high level of evidence-based practice through continual review of current research, enhancing patient care standards.
• Role model compassionate and inclusive leadership to foster a collective leadership culture within the trust, demonstrating engaging, enabling, and empowering leadership styles, coaching for ownership of learning and quality improvement, and facilitating teamwork across organizational boundaries.

We manage hospitals across North Tyneside, Wansbeck, and Hexham, along with community hospitals, clinics, and the Northumbria Specialist Emergency Care Hospital. We also provide home-based services, giving patients greater choice and control over their care to promote independence and avoid unnecessary hospital admissions.
